Elder Wilcock and Elder Kalani. His MTC companion is from Kenya, Look at Wes smile! He says he is so happy! That makes me SO HAPPY!When I receive more details about his companion I will share!
Of course that is my son flipping! he spends half his life upside down, and in the air! This is Wes and the other 13 missionaries with him at the MTC playing sand volleyball, they have table tennis, basketball, sand volleyball and a soccer field which this group of missionaries were able to help finish, set out the goals and be the first missionaries to play on it!

This is all the missionaries in their Group! 13 total, how awesome is that! This was a picture of them after they put the new goals out on the new soccer field!
More pics from the MTC on Day one, not sure what they were doing, looks as though they were getting soccer shoes???? I was just so happy to see wesleys cute face! He looks so happy!
Day one at the Johannesburg MTC, luckily they all received their luggage after 2 days and 22 hours total flight time! Poor kid was so Tired, he said they wouldn't let them go to sleep until 8pm Africa time so their bodies would adjust to the time difference! Sis, Rieber was so sweet to send us these pics of Wes and the other Elders, It was so great to see they were still smiling!

Quotable quote of the day!

" The size of your faith or the degree of your knowledge is not the issue, it is the integrity you demonstrate toward the faith you do have and the truth you already know."    Elder Holland

ITS TIME!

  •  Wes had his Farewell on Sunday May 12th 2013, his topic was on Mothers and the Proclamation to the Family, He did AWESOME! I am sure glad he got his speaking ability from his Dad not from me!
  •  Wes was set apart as a full time Missionary on Monday evening May 13th, what an amazing experience this was to witness!
  • Wes left On Tuesday May 14th 2013, we were lucky we were able to take him to the SLC airport and stay with him for a couple of Hour before he left. The whole fam was able to be there to see him offl, I am so greatful for this last few hours we were able to be with him.
  • Wes had a layover in Chicago, then on to London where they had a 10 hour layover, the group was able to see many of the amazing sights around London, I will make sure and post pics as soon as he sends them to us. He then flew all night into Johannesburg and arrived at the MTC around noon Thursday.( Africa is 8 hours ahead ) This is the email he sent to let us know he arrived safely. WHEW! I can breath a little easier knowing he arrived in one piece.

WEEK ONE DAY 3 (In Johannesburg MTC)

Gooday family, I am sitting in the MTC right now, getting yelled at by the nurse because I do not have my immunization papers ha ha (by the way you need to send them asap). As soon as my flight landed in south Africa I could not stop smiling! this place is incredible, everyone has there companion but me, cause mine is coming from Kenya. there are only 13 missionaries in the MTC, how cool is that. I figured out how to set my watch finally ha ha. driving here is so weird, everything is opposite and everyone drives super crazy and fast, I
love it. we don't call a BBQ a BBQ we call them a fry! and a truck is not called a truck ha ha its called a bukky. I am about to go get my shots and then go on a tour of the MTC, then we are playing sand volleyball. for lunch at the MTC we had some really good gritts with vegetables and meet, with fresh guava juice to drink and some fresh bananas, it was so good. I am so tired its not even funny, but they wont let us fall asleep until 8 cause they said it helps with getting used to the time difference, oh man, sorry my time is  up I  Love you all more than you know, thank you for your support.

Wesleys Journey

Wesley's Journey begins on December 19th 2012, he received his LDS Mission call to Johannesburg South Africa!
He is to report On May 16th 2013 to the Johannesburg MTC, this leaves us with 5 months to prepare! Yes, you would think that was a long time to wait to leave on his mission, but honestly it took us that long for all the paperwork and details that went into getting him ready. There were background checks, FBI clearance, police letters, Visas, passports, immunizations and OH SO MUCH MORE!!! We watched many tender mercies and miracles unfold right before our eyes. The Lord placed so many amazing people in Wesley's path during this time. I recall being so overwhelmed by the many Items that were required of Wes, between clothing, shoes, luggage, travel money, bike, bedding, you name it he had to have it! There were many nights Jon and I would find ourselves on our knees, pleading with our Heavenly Father for help, Financially we were not able to keep up with the demands of this particular mission. We were again reminded to just have a little Faith and all would be taken care of. It all started with Wesley's passport, we needed $200 to get this started, We were already 3 months into the preparation and The Passport had not even been submitted, it should have been the very first thing we did in December! Well Wes was able to land a Job at Lexus Of Lindon, Thanks to our sweet Son in Law Wes Berge! (haha yes, our SON IN LAW IS WES TOO!) Wes was able to use the money from his first paycheck to purchase the Passport. We then submitted the FBI Clearance form which Again I should have submitted way back in December, it is know almost April and it says it will take up to 8 weeks for it to be completed. Once again we find ourselves Praying that all this paperwork will get done before May 1st. It all did! with plenty of time to spare, we sent his packet off to church headquarters BEFORE our deadline!

As I began to search the other Items required for this mission, once again that gloom set in, I just didn't know how we could possibly afford what was left in the time we had left, I remember sitting talking with Wes one afternoon, he had asked why I was crying, I told him it was going to be at least $500 to just get the clothing he needed and how we just didn't have the money, he pulled up a text he had just received moments earlier from my sweet sister Ashley and her Husband Scott, they were going to take Wes shopping and purchase ALL of his Mission clothing. As you might have guessed I was in tears, but this time tears of Joy! Jon was able to sell his trailer and Wesley's car to help cover some of our other costs associated with the mission, these too were always sold at just the right time when we needed funds, and of course for just the right amount! so Amazing how the Lord has blessed our Family! It was time to purchase shoes, he needed two pair of shoes, we were thinking like $100, oh how wrong we were, try $299 a pair! well once again we needed to come up with $600 to cover this cost! One evening around 10:30 I got a text from Wesley's old scout leader Billy, he told Wes that he would like to get him his shoes, he was told to go to Mr. Mac Monday morning and pick out any two pairs of shoes, and he would take care of it! I MEAN REALLY, you would think that I would have learned a very valuable lesson here, that no matter what we should NEVER DOUBT! we will ALWAYS be taken care of, the Lord truly did place so many AMAZING people in Wesley's path over this past 5 months,
Every time we were in need of anything, someone would cross our path that helped provide it for him. Words can not express my appreciation for everyone that has helped Wes along the way, whether it be YM leaders, Ma and Pa's, Bishops, Aunts, uncles, friends, family, the list could go on and on! I love each and every one of you dearly, you have helped our Son Succeed in this most amazing time of his life! This first post takes care of his 5 month prep time, keep posted for the adventure that awaits Wes in Beautiful South Africa!
